“[Geothermal heating] seemed like it was a no-brainer,” Tuttelman said. “A better technology that was going to use no fossil fuel, was going to be more efficient, and someone else was going to pick up more than half of the cost.” Dandelion Energy was recently featured in the bostonglobe because of the role we played in helping one of our favorite customers and fiercest advocates, Mathew Tuttelman, get his home off fossil fuels. With historic incentives from utilities, the state of Massachusetts, and the federal government, over 50% of the cost of Tuttelman's home geothermal system was covered by rebates and incentives. If you want to learn more about Tuttelman's journey to a Net Zero home, check out the Boston Globe article at https://www.bostonglobe.com/2024/01/30/science/net-zero-home-renovation/

"Geothermal systems are an eco-friendly, infinite energy source that tap into the Earth's constant ground temperature, using a heat pump to extract warmth in winter and expel temperatures cooler than the air in summer." Earlier today, mensjournal published an article all about why homeowners should make the switch to geothermal. Not only does the piece hit upon some of geothermal heating's biggest selling points (low-maintenance, high-efficiency, long-term cost savings), but our Founder and President, Kathy Hannun, is also heavily featured. "Heating oil and propane, two of the most common heating sources throughout the Northeast, have steadily become more expensive, a trend that could produce the highest home heating costs on record." With the rising costs of heating fuels, and once-in-a-generation incentives available in many Northeastern states, the time has never been better to make the switch to geothermal heating.

We are happy to be part of this affordable housing project in Westchester, the FIRST to drill below 500 feet since the passing of the new Geothermal Borehole Law in September by State Sen. Pete Harckham. 🏡💚 The new law is also helping open up new markets for clean heating and cooling technologies in urban areas. Fewer boreholes are needed when deeper holes can be drilled making projects on smaller plots of land more viable. Click the link in our bio to read the story.

For some people, sustainable green living is a goal. A future priority they hope to someday embody and embrace. For others, like Mathew Tuttelman, it’s a lifestyle and a mission. Tuttelman has been on a journey toward net zero emissions, understanding that a single person can make a meaningful difference if they start at their greatest place of influence: at home. After adding solar panels to his roof and upgrading to a Tesla Model Y, he saw an opportunity to pursue proactive sustainability by replacing his aging AC Condensers and gas-powered furnaces with a more efficient electric-powered geothermal heating and cooling system.
